Buttler injured, Archer rested for England's ODI tri-series in Pakistan

Jos Buttler will miss England's upcoming ODI tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka due to injury, while Jofra Archer has been rested.

  • Jos Buttler is out due to a hamstring injury sustained in a recent series.
  • Jofra Archer has been rested to manage his workload after a busy summer.
  • Leg-spinner Mason Crane has been called into the squad, eight years after his last England appearance.

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler will not participate in the upcoming One Day International (ODI) tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, having sustained a hamstring injury. Fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been excluded from the squad, with selectors opting to rest him to manage his workload.

The tri-series, which begins on 18 October, will see England play two matches against each side in Pakistan, culminating in a final on 31 October in Lahore. Adil Rashid and Sam Curran return to the squad after recovering from hand and groin injuries respectively.

Uncapped leg-spinner Mason Crane has been called up, marking his first England appearance since a Test match in 2018. Sussex players James Coles and Henry Crocombe are also included in the squad, which will be captained by Harry Brook.
