Thousands of victim-survivors across Cambridgeshire are set to benefit from £4.4 million in government funding over the next two years. This funding will provide mentoring, counselling, and other support services.
The Ministry of Justice has allocated the £4.4 million to the Cambridgeshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) to help victims of all crime types access practical, emotional, and therapeutic support. More than £2.4 million of this funding is specifically ring-fenced for domestic and sexual abuse support services.
As part of this allocation, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Victim and Witness Hub will receive over £600,000, and Peterborough Women’s Aid will receive over £180,000. Victims Minister Alex Davies-Jones visited the PCC Victim and Witness Hub and Peterborough Women’s Aid services today, 30 September, meeting survivors and observing the specialist support provided.
This funding is part of a broader government commitment of £550 million over the next three years to advise and support victims and witnesses through the justice process. An additional £8.7 million has been ring-fenced for Rape Crisis England & Wales to maintain their 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.
