World Cup finalists Canada proved too strong for Scotland, running in 10 tries to secure a resounding win in their WXV Series opener in Edinburgh. The final score was Scotland 26, Canada 64.
Canada established an early lead with tries from Lizzie Gibson and Olivia Apps. Scotland responded with a try from Evie Gallagher, but Canada quickly extended their advantage with further scores from Gibson, Brittanny Kassil, and Julia Omokhuale.
Scotland's Shona Campbell scored their second try, but Taylor Perry added Canada's sixth try early in the second half. Despite further tries for Scotland from Lana Skeldon and Rhona Lloyd, Canada continued to dominate with scores from Justine Pelletier, Gabrielle Senft, and Savannah Bauder.
Canada's Brittanny Kassil received a 20-minute red card after the break for a high shot on Meryl Smith.
