England's remarkable 41-match unbeaten run has come to an end after Canada clinched a dramatic 24-21 victory in Toronto. Shoshanah Seumanutafa's late try sealed the win for Canada, who had previously drawn with England in September.
This result marks the first time England's Red Roses have been defeated since November 2022, when they lost to New Zealand in the World Cup final. It also represents England's first loss to Canada since 2016 and their first defeat on Canadian soil, having won their previous 11 away matches against them.
Canada's Savannah Bauder opened the scoring after Zoe Harrison received a yellow card, but England rallied to take a 14-5 lead at half-time. Despite Sarah Bern cancelling out an Alysha Corrigan try early in the second half, Canada fought back, with DaLeaka Menin crashing over to set up a tense finale. Seumanutafa then completed the comeback with a charge down the left wing three minutes from time.
