Cardiff City monitoring free-agent market amid injury crisis

Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed the club is monitoring the free-agent market due to an injury-hit squad and a winless start to the Championship season.

  • Cardiff City is monitoring the free-agent market due to multiple player injuries.
  • Dylan Lawlor, Will Fish, Calum Chambers, and Isaak Davies are currently unavailable due to injury.
  • Youngsters Noah Anyadike (15) and Paul Moreno (16) were named on the bench against Stoke City.

Cardiff City manager Brian Barry-Murphy has stated that the club is monitoring the free-agent market. This comes as the team faces an injury crisis and a winless start to their Championship campaign, leaving Barry-Murphy short of options.

The club's lack of squad depth was highlighted when 15-year-old Noah Anyadike and 16-year-old Paul Moreno were included on the bench for the midweek match against Stoke City. Barry-Murphy confirmed both youngsters earned their places due to strong performances.

Key players such as Dylan Lawlor, Will Fish, Calum Chambers, and Isaak Davies are currently sidelined. Rubin Colwill is also in a race against time to be fit for Saturday's game against Bolton Wanderers due to ankle irritation.

Lawlor is making progress and could return for the home game against Charlton Athletic on 19 September, while Fish is expected to resume full training during the upcoming international break. However, a timescale for Chambers' return is unclear due to knee, neck, and back issues, and Davies is expected to be out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
