Cardiff Rugby is hopeful that Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau will be fit for the start of the 2026-27 United Rugby Championship (URC). Faletau, 35, suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in March.
He has featured in pre-season training and will soon increase his comeback efforts ahead of the URC opener against Scarlets on Saturday, 26 September. Head coach Corniel van Zyl stated that Faletau is in a good fitness space, despite not yet being cleared for contact.
Van Zyl added that Faletau will be integrated into more contact training to determine when he is ready for full matches. Faletau signed a one-year contract extension with Cardiff in July.
