Cardiff defender Krystian Bielik has been banned for two matches and fined £10,000 following an altercation with a Portsmouth fan. The incident took place during his side’s 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park on Saturday 5 September.

The Poland centre-half was alleged to have grappled with a teenage boy while retrieving the ball from the crowd in the 71st minute of the Championship match. Video footage reportedly showed Bielik becoming involved with a young male supporter, who appeared to be pushed in the throat by the player after throwing the ball back.

Bielik admitted the misconduct charge, and an independent regulatory commission imposed the sanctions. Hampshire Police also investigated the incident but took no further action, concluding their enquiries with an out-of-court disposal and an apology from the player.
