Cardiovascular Logistics, a specialist provider of time-critical logistics for cardiovascular medical devices, has announced the appointment of Gary Kirsh as its new chief executive. Kirsh, who takes up the role with immediate effect, replaces outgoing CEO Mark Thompson, who stepped down last month after five years in the role.
Kirsh joins from MedSupply UK, where he served as managing director for three years, overseeing the distribution of surgical equipment to NHS trusts across England and Wales. His appointment signals the company's intent to expand its network of delivery hubs and improve turnaround times for hospitals treating heart attack and stroke patients.
The company, headquartered in Milton Keynes, operates a fleet of temperature-controlled vehicles and courier services that transport stents, pacemakers, and other critical cardiovascular devices to more than 200 NHS hospitals. Industry analysts note that the UK's ageing population and rising prevalence of coronary heart disease are driving demand for such specialist logistics.
In a statement, Cardiovascular Logistics' chairman, Sir Richard Hoyle, said: 'Gary's deep understanding of healthcare supply chains and his track record in operational efficiency make him the ideal leader for our next phase of growth. We are confident his leadership will enhance our service to the NHS and private healthcare providers alike.'
Kirsh commented: 'I am delighted to join Cardiovascular Logistics at a time when the NHS is under immense pressure to reduce waiting times for cardiac procedures. My priority will be to ensure that every hospital receives the right device, at the right time, every time.'
