Carlos Sainz has signed a new multi-year contract to remain with the Williams Formula One team, extending his commitment into 2027 and beyond. The 31-year-old Spaniard initially joined Williams in 2025.
Sainz's decision comes despite a recent slump in form for the team, which last won a constructors' championship in 1997. His current deal was set to expire at the end of the current season.
Team principal James Vowles expressed delight with Sainz's extension, stating that his talent and dedication have been valuable to the project. Sainz himself said he believes in the team and is committed to helping Williams return to where it belongs.
The announcement follows team-mate Alex Albon's new one-year deal for 2027. Williams finished fifth in the constructors' championship in 2025, but are currently ninth of 11 teams at the halfway point of the 2026 season.
