Cat Little appointed Permanent Secretary for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade

Cat Little has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST), moving from her current role in the Cabinet Office.

  • Cat Little is currently the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office and the Civil Service Chief Operating Officer.
  • The appointment was made by the Cabinet Secretary with the Prime Minister's approval.
  • A recruitment process will be launched to find Cat Little’s successor at the Cabinet Office.

Cat Little has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary for the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST). The appointment was made by the Cabinet Secretary, Dame Antonia Romeo, with the approval of the Prime Minister.

Ms Little is currently serving as the Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office and the Civil Service Chief Operating Officer. She has previously held senior roles at HM Treasury, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Defence.

Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, stated that Ms Little's experience would help deliver the growth needed across the country. Dame Antonia Romeo highlighted Ms Little's track record and commercial experience as ideal for leading BIST's policy agenda.

Ms Little will remain in her current role until a successor is found for the Cabinet Office position. A recruitment process is being launched to fill her previous post.
