A viral social media trend has emerged surrounding Zara's £25.99 flowing palazzo trousers, with multiple users reporting painful trips and injuries due to the baggy design. According to various posts on TikTok, the trousers' wide legs and flowing fabric can get wrapped around the wearer's ankles and feet, causing them to trip.
Stylist Clare Chambers told the Metro that the wider the leg, the more likely it is to get caught and wrapped around the opposite leg/foot, causing the wearer to trip and fall. 'It's a design issue,' she said.
Several users have shared videos of themselves tripping while wearing the trousers, with some reporting injuries such as broken bones and cuts. One user, Morgana, suffered a broken phone and a grazed knee, while another, Ellin Costa, broke her wrist and cut her face.
Zara has yet to comment on the issue, and experts are urging caution when wearing the trousers. 'It's not a matter of fashion vs safety, it's a matter of common sense,' said Chambers.
The trend has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some users calling for a recall of the trousers and others defending their safety.
