United States wonderkid Cavan Sullivan made his international debut for the USA on Saturday, starting in their 4-1 friendly victory over Peru. At 16 years and 363 days, the Philadelphia Union midfielder is now the fourth youngest player to represent the USA.
Sullivan's debut comes over a year before he can officially join Manchester City, who secured his future signing in 2024 when he was 14. His first regular starts for Philadelphia Union began after the 2026 MLS season resumed post-World Cup, leading to his first international call-up.
Since the World Cup, Sullivan has recorded seven goals and five assists in MLS this season, with six goals and four assists occurring in August and September. He has scored six goals in his last six games and has been named in the league's Team of the Matchday seven times, including for the past three consecutive matchdays.
His introduction to the Philadelphia Union team has coincided with a turnaround in their season, as they are currently unbeaten in 11 games, winning nine. This contrasts with their start to the season, where they won only one game in 15.
