Chalk unleash fury with blistering new single 'Get Fucked', an unapologetic takedown of modern life's monotony. The Belfast duo's latest release is a sonic sledgehammer, driven by vocalist Ross Cullen's snarling delivery and a techno-infused instrumental that's equal parts propulsive and punishing.
The lyrics are a scathing critique of societal expectations, with lines like "Get a job/ Go to work/ Feels right/ Get yourself a new apartment, seems nice" spat out with venom. As the track builds, Cullen's demands become increasingly belligerent, culminating in a blistering chant that's as cathartic as it is infuriating.
Chalk's collaboration with Irish producer Kettama (aka Evan) breathed new life into 'Get Fucked', transforming a demo into a track that's both a rebuke to the status quo and a testament to the band's willingness to experiment. This latest offering arrives hot on the heels of their critically acclaimed debut album, 'Crystalpunk', which dropped in March to widespread acclaim.
That album was hailed as "a knockout collection of arresting dance-punk" by one prominent music publication, with 'Get Fucked' showcasing Chalk's continued commitment to pushing boundaries. Multi-instrumentalist Benedict Goddard previously described their aim for 'Crystalpunk' as wanting to push every aspect of their sound, and it's clear they're still going full-throttle with this new single.
