A gardener is currently grappling with an overwhelming harvest of chard, transforming their vegetable patch into what they describe as a 'chard jungle'. This year's crop has yielded stems of various colours and leaves in numerous shades of green, some large enough to cover the lower half of a person.
The abundance follows a decision to sow more chard seeds after last year's crop was underwhelming. The gardener had also sown additional varieties after the summer yield initially underwhelmed them.
As a result of the prolific growth, chard is now a staple at every meal, appearing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The surplus is also being stored in the freezer and shared with friends.
