Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is facing renewed scrutiny after the team's 0-2 start to the NFL season. The Chargers suffered a 26-14 defeat to the Raiders on Sunday, following an earlier loss to a team that picked first in the draft and another to Arizona, who picked third.
Herbert, described as one of the NFL's most promising quarterbacks, completed 15 of 27 passes for a touchdown and two interceptions in the recent game, also taking three sacks. His performance was outdueled by Kirk Cousins, the Vegas quarterback, who was more efficient with 8.7 yards per attempt compared to Herbert's 7.1.
The Chargers' offense largely struggled, managing only two long touchdown drives across 13 possessions and otherwise failing to advance more than 30 yards in a series. This follows a playoff wildcard loss last season where Herbert also played poorly.
While Herbert is viewed by NFL decision-makers as approximately the sixth-best quarterback in the league, questions persist regarding his ability to secure wins, particularly given the team's current record and his 0-3 playoff record.
