  • Leicester City have also signed Republic of Ireland international Jessie Stapleton from West Ham on a three-year deal.

Charlton Athletic have bolstered their squad with the signing of experienced full-back Ashleigh Neville from Leicester City. The 33-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the newly-promoted club.

Neville brings a wealth of experience, having made over 100 appearances in the Women's Super League. This move also sees her reunite with manager Karen Hills, under whom she spent three years at Tottenham, helping the team achieve promotion to the top flight.

Neville expressed her excitement about the move, stating, "It's an exciting journey for myself and the club so I'm really happy to be here." She added, "I know what Karen's about and she knows what I bring. I'm really looking forward to working with her again."

Neville joined Leicester in January on a one-and-a-half-year deal, but the Foxes were relegated after a play-off defeat to Charlton in May. It is believed Charlton likely paid a fee for her transfer.

Meanwhile, Leicester City have announced the signing of 21-year-old Republic of Ireland international Jessie Stapleton from West Ham. Stapleton, who spent three years in London and had loan spells at Reading, Sunderland, and Nottingham Forest, joins on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Why this matters: The signing of an experienced player like Ashleigh Neville could be significant for newly-promoted Charlton Athletic as they aim to compete in the top flight.
