Charlton Athletic's women's team is set to compete in the Women's Super League (WSL) for the 2026-27 season, marking their return to the top flight nearly 20 years after their previous disbandment. Managed by Karen Hills, the team secured promotion last season by winning a playoff against Leicester, having finished third in WSL2.
The club had an impressive run last season, including a 27-game unbeaten streak and boasting the meanest defence in WSL2. Despite a mid-season dip, they achieved their promotion goal. Six players have departed, but new arrivals like Ashleigh Neville, Emily van Egmond, Leah Davidson, and Grace Johnston are expected to bring experience and new talent to the squad.
Charlton will continue to play their home games at the Valley for a third consecutive season. Off the field, haircare brand Sofnfree has become the women's team's official sleeve partner. However, the club's ownership group, Global Football Partners, has put the club up for sale, which could introduce some short-term instability.
