Chelsea has been hit with a further £10m fine by the Football Association (FA) after admitting to over 70 charges of breaking financial rules. These breaches, which occurred under Roman Abramovich's previous ownership, involved secret payments to agents during signings, including those of Eden Hazard, Willian, and Samuel Eto’o.
Despite the significant fine, Chelsea successfully appealed an initial suspended points deduction, instead receiving a suspended transfer ban. This latest penalty brings the club's total financial punishment for these breaches to more than £20m, following an earlier sanction by the Premier League.
In a separate development, Chelsea has received a boost with the FA confirming that winger Mykhailo Mudryk is now free to play. Mudryk's 18-month ban for breaking anti-doping rules, after testing positive for meldonium in late 2024, officially ended on July 30. He now faces the challenge of resurrecting his career after joining Chelsea for £89m in January 2023.
