David and Anne Moffat, parents of Chloe Moffat, are considering legal action against the Treasury for wrongful death. This follows a coroner's ruling earlier this month that the Treasury "materially contributed" to their daughter's suicide.
Chloe Moffat, 26, a personal assistant at the Treasury, attended a surprise disciplinary meeting last May, which her parents state left her distressed and convinced she would lose her job. She died by suicide the following morning.
The coroner's finding also highlighted a risk of further deaths at the Treasury due to how the department handles disciplinary cases. The Moffats have expressed concern that lessons may not be learned and have received no contact from the Treasury since the finding.
