The humble chocolate bar at the till has become one of the most telling signs of rising prices across the country. According to recent research, a standard £1 chocolate bar is now considered 'normal' in many UK stores.
One factor contributing to this price hike is the increase in raw material costs, particularly cocoa and sugar. Chocolate manufacturers are struggling to absorb these costs, resulting in higher prices for consumers.
A study by MoneyMagpie found that the top 10 cheapest chocolate bars available in the UK range from £0.80 to £1.15. These include brands such as Cadbury, Galaxy, and Toblerone.
While some retailers are offering discounts or promotions on certain products, others have increased their prices significantly. For example, a 100g bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk now costs around £1.10 at major supermarkets.
