Danish footballer Christian Eriksen has departed German club Wolfsburg by mutual consent, just over three months after collapsing during a match.

  • Christian Eriksen's contract with Wolfsburg was scheduled to run until June 2027.
  • Eriksen, 34, has not played since June 2026.
  • He joined Wolfsburg a year ago and made 34 appearances for the club.

Danish international Christian Eriksen has left German second-tier side Wolfsburg by mutual consent. The departure comes just over three months after the 34-year-old midfielder collapsed during Denmark's friendly match against Ukraine.

Eriksen's contract with Wolfsburg had been set to continue until June 2027. He stated, "At the moment, it is important for me to be close to my family in Denmark. I'm pleased that we were able to find a solution together."

Wolfsburg's managing director for sport, Dieter Hecking, confirmed the club agreed to Eriksen's request to terminate the contract, saying, "It was clear that the decision about his future had to be Christian's." Eriksen joined Wolfsburg as a free agent a year ago after leaving Manchester United and has not played since June.
