Civil Nuclear Constabulary targets Armed Forces for policing careers

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is collaborating with military resettlement services to recruit service leavers, veterans, and their families for armed policing and specialist roles.

  • The CNC is working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS).
  • Recruitment efforts include regional events and online webinars, with a September webinar attracting around 30 attendees.
  • The CNC aims to highlight how military skills can transfer to roles like Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO).

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is enhancing its engagement with the Armed Forces community to encourage recruitment into armed policing and specialist roles.

This initiative involves close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence’s Career Transition Partnership (CTP) and British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS).

As part of these efforts, CNC representatives are attending regional recruitment events and hosting online webinars. These provide opportunities for service personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families to learn about careers as Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) and other specialist positions.

A webinar co-hosted by the CNC and CTP in September saw approximately 30 members of the Armed Forces community attend. The session, presented by serving CNC AFOs, covered transferable skills, relocation, and their experiences.

The CNC also regularly exhibits at BFRS Careers Fairs, including a September event in Tidworth, to speak directly with potential recruits and showcase policing equipment.

Why this matters: This collaboration aims to provide employment opportunities for the Armed Forces community transitioning to civilian life, while also helping the CNC fill critical policing roles.

What this means for you: If you are a service leaver, veteran, or part of an Armed Forces family, these initiatives offer specific pathways and support for exploring careers with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.
