The Criminal Justice Board (CJB) Wales has today, 5 October 2026, published two separate documents: its Annual Report and its Anti-Racism Report.
Phil Bowen, Chair of the Youth Justice Board (YJB), welcomed the publication of both reports. He stated that they highlight the importance of strong partnership working to build a fairer and more effective justice system for the people of Wales.
Mr Bowen noted that the progress made over the past year in areas such as preventing reoffending, improving victim safety, strengthening early intervention, and advancing anti-racism aligns with the YJB's vision for youth justice. He also emphasised the commitment to learning from lived experience as essential for lasting change.
The YJB is committed to supporting youth justice services in Wales, with a priority on reducing persistent disparities through data gathering and practical support. Mr Bowen found it encouraging to see this commitment shared across Wales, with Heads of Service establishing a disproportionality steering group.
