Scrum-half Rhea Clarke is set to make her first start for Scotland as they kick off their WXV Series campaign against Canada in Edinburgh on Saturday. Evie Gallagher will also return to the team, featuring on the openside flank for her first appearance since last year's World Cup.
Gallagher will partner captain Rachel Malcolm, who leads the team from the blindside, with Becky Boyd taking the number eight shirt. Shona Campbell is selected on the left wing, joining Rhona Lloyd and Chloe Rollie in the back three.
Interim head coach Dave Butcher has named uncapped Glasgow fly-half Ceitidh Ainsworth and Exeter full-back Katie Buchanan among the replacements. Second row Adelle Ferrie is also on the bench, having replaced the injured Alex Stewart in the squad.
The match, which kicks off at 16:10 BST, will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA and BBC iPlayer. World Cup runners-up Canada have a strong record against Scotland, winning seven of their eight previous meetings, including a 40-19 victory in the World Cup group stage last September. Following the Canada fixture, Scotland are scheduled to play Tests against New Zealand and Australia.
