The wait is finally over – kind of! Gaming behemoths Bethesda have confirmed that two of their most beloved titles, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, are set for remastered editions. However, don't get your controller at the ready just yet, as fans will be waiting a while longer to dive back into these classic worlds.
Years of speculation and fervent fan demand have finally been answered, but it seems that anticipation will be the only thing keeping gamers going in the short term. The news broke on social media, with Bethesda dropping a tantalising teaser: "While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas."
But the excitement doesn't end there – Bethesda has outlined a packed schedule for the Fallout universe. In the pipeline are new games from Obsidian (the studio behind the original Fallout: New Vegas) and a long-awaited Fallout 5, currently in pre-production. And if that's not enough, fans can look forward to a Fallout 3 prequel, Raven Rock, which will be landing in Fallout 76 next year.
However, it seems that Bethesda is prioritising The Elder Scrolls 6 for now, with Todd Howard confirming back in 2022 that Fallout 5 would only follow its fantasy counterpart. With the majority of their team devoted to this massive project – which isn't expected to drop until at least 2028 – it's clear that UK gamers will be keeping their eyes peeled for any update on a release date.
