Claudia Winkleman, the TV presenter with a face that's as familiar as your own neighbour's, has hung up her chat show hat after just one series. The 48-year-old's decision to step down from The Claudia Winkleman Show comes after a mixed bag of reviews and her own admission of feeling "too nervous" to enjoy the experience.
The show, which featured big-name guests like Jeff Goldblum, Niall Horan, and James McAvoy, was produced by Graham Norton's So Television. But despite being given the green light for a second series, Winkleman has called it quits, citing her desire to focus on other projects that bring her more joy.
And what projects they are! As well as hosting The Traitors UK, she also fronts the music competition series The Piano. With its fourth season underway and flying high in the ratings, it's little wonder Winkleman's prioritising this gig over anything else. After all, you don't get BAFTA nominations for nothing – and Winkleman has bagged a few of those too.
According to Variety, it was Winkleman herself who initiated the decision to axe her chat show, rather than it being a BBC call. This suggests that our girl's got her priorities spot on: her well-being and happiness come first – and we can't blame her for that.
The fact that The Traitors UK was such a massive hit last time around only adds to the sense that Winkleman knows what she's doing. With its mind-bending gameplay, surprise twists, and unforgettable contestants, it's no wonder audiences are hooked – and so is Claudia, judging by her glowing enthusiasm for the show.
