Cliftonville members have approved a takeover by the Toronto Investment Group (TIG), with the group committing to invest £3 million in the club over the first 36 months. The vote in favour of the TIG takeover took place on Monday.
TIG will acquire a 90% share in the 147-year-old club, while the remaining percentage will be retained by the membership. New director Conor Devine stated that Champions League nights at Solitude are "not too far away" following the takeover.
Devine, one of four directors at TIG, also indicated that the takeover means Cliftonville can meet its match-funding commitment for stadia improvements through the NI Football Fund programme. Cliftonville has a funding application of more than £6 million in the fund's third tier.
