CMA grants latest consent in GXO / Wincanton merger inquiry

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has granted an amendment or consent related to the completed acquisition of Wincanton Plc by GXO Logistics, Inc. This is the latest development in an inquiry that began in September 2024.

  • The CMA granted an amendment or consent on 4 August 2026.
  • The CMA's phase 2 investigation is being conducted under its new merger process, applicable to cases opened since 25 April 2024.
  • A remedy group was appointed, effective from 1 May 2026.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has granted an amendment or consent today, 4 August 2026, in its ongoing inquiry into the completed acquisition of Wincanton Plc by GXO Logistics, Inc.

This latest action follows the CMA's acceptance of final undertakings on 26 August 2025, which fully determined the reference. The phase 2 investigation is being conducted under the CMA’s new merger process, which applies to cases opened since 25 April 2024.

A remedy group was appointed, effective from 1 May 2026, following its initial appointment on 26 August 2025. The CMA had previously published its final report on 19 June 2025 and served an interim order on the same date.
