The Mining Remediation Authority (MRA) has proposed the acquisition and demolition of properties on Benbuck View and Dunmoss View in Coalsnaughton, Clackmannanshire. This follows assessments that found damage and risk severity in these homes to be beyond rehabilitation, according to Carl Banton, Chief Operations Director for the MRA.
Nearly 100 homes in the area were evacuated in May due to ground movement linked to historic coal mining. The MRA hosted meetings with affected residents on Thursday 27 August to provide updates on investigations and planned operational activities.
Mr Banton stated that assessments showed each affected street is experiencing ground movement and property damage differently. For other affected areas, the situation differs; repairs are expected at Langour after ground stabilisation, and further stabilisation is planned near Nechtan Drive, alongside road repairs on The Glen.
Dedicated support, including named contacts and account managers, remains in place for affected households.
