Franco Colapinto will remain with Alpine for the 2027 Formula 1 season, the team confirmed today. The 23-year-old Argentine driver will continue to race alongside Frenchman Pierre Gasly.
The announcement comes midway through a season where Colapinto secured a career-best sixth-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix. He also finished seventh in Miami.
Alpine executive director Flavio Briatore stated that Colapinto's results in Miami and Montreal confirmed his place in F1 and with the team, emphasising the importance of consistency. Briatore added that designing and building a fast race car remains the team's top priority.
Colapinto expressed his happiness and feeling settled at Alpine, noting the significant progress made this year compared to last. Alpine, who finished last in 2025, are currently sixth after 12 races this season. Their improved competitiveness follows decisions last year to focus on the 2026 car design and switch to customer Mercedes engines.
