A former Cold War bunker in Folkestone, Kent, has been listed for sale with a guide price of £45,000. The property, built in 1971 by the Ministry of Defence, was originally a Royal Observation Corps Monitoring Post.
Estate agents Miles & Barr describe the bunker as "sizeable" inside, despite its inconspicuous concrete disguise on the surface. It is believed to be the last of approximately 1,500 such bunkers constructed in the UK.
The bunker, which goes 4m (13ft) deep, was designed to detect nuclear explosions and track radioactive fallout. It has not been actively used since 1991. While none of the original interior fixtures remain, the agent states the bunker stays dry and maintains a reasonable temperature year-round.
