Dozens of motorists have accused The Trade Centre UK, which has branches in Coventry and Wednesbury, of selling them faulty cars. Complaints include claims that vehicles break down within weeks and allegations that the company is not repairing them or offering refunds.
Michelle Chancellor, from Stourport on Severn, bought a Vauxhall from the Wednesbury branch and reported problems less than two weeks later. She stated her car began shaking and making a loud noise, with an independent garage later finding a serious engine fault.
Tom Barnwell, who bought a car from the Coventry branch, said his vehicle broke down six weeks later and he has been without it for two months while it is with the company for repairs. He is attempting to reject the car for a refund.
The Trade Centre Group Plc stated it "strongly refutes any suggestion that we sell faulty vehicles or fail to meet our obligations to customers." The company added that every vehicle undergoes a comprehensive inspection and pre-sale preparation, and concerns are investigated in a timely manner.
Warwickshire Trading Standards, which receives complaints about car dealers including The Trade Centre UK, noted that the used car market is among the most complained about sectors. However, no warnings, enforcement notices, or other regulatory action has been taken regarding the Warwickshire branch of Trade Centre UK.
