Condé Nast Traveller has published a list of 15 burgers in New York City that it says are worth planning a trip around. The publication said the burgers fall into two categories: those with a classic, thick patty and those that have been smashed on the griddle.
The list includes Deux Luxe in Nolita, where the burger features two Wagyu beef patties, pain au lait bun, cheddar cheese and garlic aioli. Gotham Burger Social Club on the Lower East Side offers beef or Impossible burgers with grilled onions, American cheese and house-made pickles, plus fried pickles known as "frickles".
Fat Ronnie's Burger Bar in Greenwich Village serves thick Angus patties on a toasted country roll, with toppings selected at the counter at no extra charge. Emily in Clinton Hill and the West Village serves a burger with secret sauce, caramelised onion and dry-aged beef on a pretzel bun, which the publication notes costs nearly £24.
P.J. Clarke's, with multiple locations, has served burgers with a dill pickle and sea salt fries since 1884, according to the article. The publication also mentions Keens Steakhouse, where it says the burger is more of an appetiser than a main event.
