The death of disability campaigner Claire Lomas, 44, following a microlight crash during filming for Apple, has been ruled accidental by a coroner. An inquest on Thursday heard that Lomas died on 22 August 2024 from severe traumatic injuries.

The incident occurred five weeks earlier, on 15 July 2024, in Amman, Jordan. Lomas was piloting a light aircraft while filming a promotional video for Apple’s Vision Pro headset when it "veered off the runway" and crashed into a rock.

The Royal Aero Sports Club of Jordan concluded there were no violations of ground or air safety procedures. Senior coroner Louise Pinder for Rutland and North Leicestershire recorded the death as accidental, noting Lomas made a split-second decision to abort a landing, but the aircraft touched down firmly, veered left, and collided with rocks.

Lomas became a charity campaigner after being paralysed in 2007, raising over £900,000 for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.
