A couple in their 60s from South Elmsall, near Wakefield, has been sentenced to prison for their role in a crack cocaine ring. Philip Spencer, 64, and Pamela Spencer, 66, admitted possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and were sentenced to five years and seven months, and three years in prison, respectively.
The investigation, which was sparked by community intelligence, led to the seizure of amphetamine, crack cocaine, and several weapons, including a knuckle-duster and a crossbow, in a raid on the couple's home on Harrow Street on 20 January.
The couple's grandson, Blake Cowell, 21, was also convicted of multiple charges, including possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He was given a 16-month sentence, suspended for two years, for dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and having no insurance.
The sentences were handed down at Leeds Crown Court on 13 July, with Det Insp Sarah Degnan praising the community for providing intelligence that led to the arrests. Det Con Saqib Iqbal added that the investigation was complex, but justice had been served.
