Cunard has announced that its flagship liner, Queen Mary 2, will undergo a major refurbishment in 2027. The ship, known for its regular transatlantic crossings between Southampton and New York, will enter dry dock for a transformation ahead of its summer sailings.
The vessel will be out of service from 31 March 2027, returning on 9 May 2027. During this period, it will be in dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Brest in France.
The refurbishment plans include the addition of 31 new staterooms across the ship. This will comprise 16 new Cunard Princess Grill Suites and 15 Britannia category staterooms. All existing Grill Suites are also set to be refreshed with new interiors, furnishings, and spa-inspired bathrooms.
Further updates will see the Queen's Grill and Princess Grill restaurants revamped, and outdoor deck space extended. The ship's dog kennels will also receive a makeover, with increased capacity, a refurbished owners' lounge, and an expanded outdoor walking area. The Mareel Wellness & Beauty spa will be updated, and new luxury stores will open on board. The Illuminations planetarium is also scheduled for a major digital upgrade.
