Green energy entrepreneur and Labour donor Dale Vince is planning to establish a London-wide news operation. This initiative is part of a proposed "rescue" for the group that publishes the Camden New Journal (CNJ), Islington Tribune, and Westminster Extra.
Mr Vince has expressed his intention to invest "whatever it takes" to support the loss-making group. He aims to address what he views as "rightwing bias" in the UK media.
The plan involves putting the CNJ on a more stable financial footing and making it "properly digital." Additionally, the Westminster edition is intended to expand its coverage to include wider London issues, potentially morphing into an edition for the entire London area.
Mr Vince stated his motivation is not for business reasons, but rather the impact of local journalism and the broader media bias in the country. The rescue package for the titles has not yet been formally finalised.
