Undefeated Dalton Smith is set to defend his WBC light-welterweight world title against former champion Alberto Puello in Sheffield this Saturday, 24 October. The 29-year-old champion will fight in his home city, nine months after securing his world title by stopping Subriel Matias in New York.

This homecoming bout has been anticipated, as Smith was originally scheduled to face mandatory challenger Puello at the Utilita Arena in June. However, an injury sustained in training forced the postponement of the fight.

Dominican fighter Puello, 32, brings a strong record of 25 wins from 26 professional fights, including 11 knockouts. He has previously held both WBA and WBC titles, with his only professional defeat coming against Matias in July 2025.

Smith enters the fight with a perfect record of 19 wins, 14 of which were inside the distance. Puello presents a different stylistic challenge, relying on movement, speed, and counter-punching as a slick southpaw.
