Daniel Dubois secured a decisive victory over Fabio Wardley on Saturday night, retaining his WBO heavyweight title with a stoppage in less than two rounds. Promoter Frank Warren observed Dubois' intense focus before the fight, stating, “He went out there on a seek-and-destroy mission.”
Dubois, who had been knocked down twice in their first encounter five months prior, was prepared for a fast start from Wardley. He stated, “I was more focused than I was in May, big-time,” and added, “It was go-time from the minute I put my gear on.”
Following his win, Dubois proclaimed, “this is my time, my era.” His promoter, Frank Warren, mentioned potential future opponents including IBF champion Filip Hrgovic, WBC champion Agit Kabayel, Tyson Fury, and Moses Itauma, all of whom are also promoted by Warren. Dubois indicated he would fight “whoever’s next in line … whoever pays the most cash.”
