Director Danny Boyle's latest film, 'Ink', is a fast-paced drama and biopic focusing on the rebirth of The Sun newspaper. The movie, based on James Graham's acclaimed play, is set to be released in UK cinemas on January 8, 2027.
Jack O’Connell stars as editor Larry Lamb, with Guy Pearce portraying publisher Rupert Murdoch. The narrative begins in 1969, depicting Murdoch's recruitment of Lamb to create a tabloid that would compete with The Mirror.
The film details the formation of the newspaper, including the development of its italicised logo and the deliberate sourcing of scandalous material. Claire Foy also features as Jules Hopkirk, Lamb's lover, bringing warmth and humour to the story.
While largely focusing on the paper's creation and growth, the film's latter part delves into questions of tabloid morality, particularly after a kidnapping incident involving Murdoch's deputy's wife.
