David Rozman, a senior member of Netcompany-Ineos Cycling Team, has returned to work for the team after being sent home from the 2025 Tour de France over alleged links to a notorious doping doctor. Rozman was the head carer for the Ineos cycling team, responsible for supporting riders with nutrition and massage, and had a long association with the team, dating back to 2011.
The allegations centre on Rozman's association with Mark Schmidt, a doping doctor who was sentenced to four years and 10 months in prison in 2020 for his role in a sophisticated doping network involving cyclists and cross-country skiers. Schmidt was convicted of 150 charges, including doping and conspiracy to commit doping, and was also fined £140,000 and banned from practising medicine for nearly eight years.
The allegations against Rozman were first made public during last year's Tour de France, when he was named in an investigative documentary by German broadcaster ARD. The documentary revealed that a member of Ineos staff had allegedly shared messages with Schmidt, including one in which Rozman asked Schmidt if he had any of the substances used by the disgraced Milram team. Rozman was confronted by a German journalist in the spring of 2025, but denied any wrongdoing and directed the journalist to his team's senior executives.
The Ineos team released a statement saying that they were aware of the allegations, but had not commented further. Rozman has now returned to work for the team, but the allegations against him remain unanswered.
