Dentons, identified as the world's largest law firm by size, is focusing on an internal strategy to capitalise on its extensive global presence. Global chief executive Kate Barton stated the firm, like much of Big Law, is concentrating on globalised client relationships, noting its footprint spans 87 countries.
The firm's approach contrasts with rivals in the legal sector, which have been engaging in significant mergers and tie-ups. Dentons aims to ensure its revenue aligns with its scale, as it is not among the top 10 firms by revenue despite its size.
In its most recent financial results, Dentons' US revenue increased by seven per cent to $828m, with profits per equity partner (PEP) reaching $1.83m. Its UK, Ireland and Middle East entity reported £336m for the financial year ending April 2026, with UK partner PEP reportedly around £600,000 to £700,000.
Instead of mergers, Dentons is pursuing a strategy of 'team poaching', recruiting groups of partners from other law firms. The firm is also accelerating its adoption of technology, with AI at the forefront, including the use of enterprise ChatGPT.
