A major moorland blaze in Derbyshire continues to pose a significant challenge for emergency services, with a major incident still declared by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Crews were first called to Tintwistle Moor near Glossop on 24 June, and despite making progress in containing the fire, they face ongoing difficulties due to the challenging terrain and deep-burning peat.
The A628 remains closed while firefighters and other emergency services deal with the incident, and members of the public are being urged to be cautious and help reduce the risk of wildfires as the summer holidays begin.
Firefighters are maintaining a significant presence in the area, working to strengthen containment measures through the creation and maintenance of fire breaks, trenches, and hose systems.
These efforts are helping to prevent further fire spread and support the extinguishment of deep-seated hotspots across the affected area.
