Derry City secured a 2-0 victory over Galway United in the FAI Cup semi-final on Saturday, with captain Michael Duffy scoring both goals. The win means Derry City will now face Waterford in the final on 8 November.

Duffy stated that winning the trophy is the primary objective for the team, rather than securing European qualification. He told BBC Sport NI, "It's a cup, you want to win trophies and be successful here."

The club's interim boss, Mark Connolly, took over in August following the dismissal of Tiernan Lynch. Derry City's form has reportedly improved under Connolly, with the team now 90 minutes away from their seventh cup win and first since 2022.

Waterford will be the opposition in the final, having defeated Bohemians in their semi-final match. Duffy anticipates a challenging game against Graham Coughlan's side, noting that previous encounters this year have been tough.
