British-Bulgarian fighter Dakota Ditcheva is making her PFL return against Denise Kielholtz in New York City on Friday night, following a year away from the cage. Ditcheva has been sidelined since July 2025 after breaking her left hand against Sumiko Inaba, with a further injury to her right hand postponing a planned February return.
The unbeaten fighter, who won the PFL flyweight tournament and $1m in 2024, stated that her time away has highlighted the importance of establishing a successful career beyond combat sports. Ditcheva co-founded a premium mineral water brand in January 2025, noting that fighters do not receive pensions or have promotions save money for their retirement.
Ditcheva also commented on the struggles some fighters face after leaving the sport, offering support for ex-UFC fighter Dustin Poirier. She acknowledged the unique challenge of replacing the adrenaline and purpose found in fighting.
Despite suggestions of a potential move to the UFC, Ditcheva stated she has five fights remaining on her current PFL contract. Her manager reportedly said her current PFL deal would make her one of the highest-paid female fighters in the UFC. Ditcheva's goals are evolving, especially after the PFL announced a merger with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions, which could lead to opportunities in boxing or MMA super-fights.
