DMA'S guitarist Matt Mason has discussed the band's self-titled fifth album, which was released on August 21. This album marks the Sydney trio's third consecutive UK Top 10 album.

Mason told NME that making 'DMA'S' was an effort to strip things back to the "imperfect" and DIY-minded energy reminiscent of their 2016 debut, 'Hill's End'. He noted that the band aimed to avoid over-analysing and perfecting things, with many vocal takes on the album being original demos.

The album's release follows a 10th-anniversary tour for 'Hill's End' across the UK, which included performances at London's O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester's O2 Victoria Warehouse.

Mason also explained that the lead single 'Heatin Park' was jokingly named as a hybrid of Manchester's Heaton Park and Linkin Park, after co-writers Jimmy Somewhere and Milo Orchis noted a similarity to the nu-metal group.
