Dolly Parton, who died on Tuesday aged 80, offered to receive experimental cancer drugs in the hope of helping others in the future, her younger sister Stella Parton has revealed.
In a Facebook tribute shared on Thursday, Stella Parton wrote that her sister told her recently that she would allow her medical team to try experimental drugs even if there was no hope for her own recovery. Stella described this as an act of kindness and generosity that continued until the end of her life.
Dolly Parton was taken to the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville following kidney and autoimmune issues, and died surrounded by family.
