Residents in Drakes Broughton, Worcestershire, are in a stand-off with developer Owl Homes, blocking access to a planned 30-home housing estate. People living next to the development have refused requests to move cars parked at the site's entrance, accusing the developer of using "bullying tactics" in the dispute.
Residents claim they have lost parking spaces and have not been offered suitable alternatives. Laured Kalari, a Pippin Walk resident, described the developer's approach as "some of the most odious" he had witnessed, stating that residents were told to move their cars just weeks before construction began.
The conflict started when Sanctuary, which owns the existing estate, sold land to Owl Homes. The Planning Inspectorate then granted an easement through the existing cul-de-sac, where residents had previously parked. Wychavon District Council initially rejected the plans, but the development was approved on appeal by the inspectorate in 2024.
Sanctuary has asked residents to keep the road clear in line with the developer's legal right to access the site and to protect emergency vehicle access. They stated they are not proposing legal action unless a further review is needed.
