The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is reviewing New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) claims that were closed between 2019 and 2023. The department states it may not have followed the correct process when closing some claims during this period.
The DWP is writing to individuals who may be affected. You may be owed money if your New Style JSA claim was active between 2019 and 2023, you were notified of a scheduled appointment by telephone or in person, you did not attend, and your claim was subsequently closed.
If you receive a letter from the DWP, you must call the telephone number provided within one month of receiving it. Failure to do so will result in the review being closed, and any money owed may be lost. During the call, you will be asked to provide personal details, bank information, and additional details regarding your claim closure and financial support.
The DWP will then reassess your claim to determine if you should have received additional New Style JSA payments. If money is owed, it will be paid into the bank, building society, or credit union account you provide.
