The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has released updated easy read guides for Universal Credit, with the new versions dated July 2026. These guides are designed to make information accessible, particularly for people with learning disabilities.
The updates include new English and Welsh versions of guides such as 'Introduction to Universal Credit', 'Who can claim Universal Credit', 'Before you apply for Universal Credit', and 'How to apply for Universal Credit'. The DWP states these updates are in line with amendments made to source content.
Previously, an updated version of the introduction guide reflected a rule change from 27 January 2021, allowing individuals with a severe disability premium to claim Universal Credit.
